My Favorite Month

Good morning crafters!  I have a mixed media layout to share with you today.

The layout was based upon the December Once Upon a Sketch challenge which was to journal about your favorite month.  It was tough to choose between December and July, but ultimately July won out.  There are just so many things I love about July - playing all month with the kids, no homework, and the incredible warm, sunny weather.  I added my journaling in a tag that sits inside this cute little envelope.

To create the distressed background, I applied gesso to the scrapbook page and let it dry.  The gesso really adds some strength to the page and makes it easy to stitch on the page, as I did with a vellum piece of paper.  I also combined gesso with a little blue paint and added a bit more to the page with a couple of stencils.  The gorgeous gold cracks and black paint spatters were stamped on using Sheena Douglass Ageing Beautifully stamp set with Memento Luxe Peanut Brittle Ink and Black Soot Distress Ink.

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you are having a wonderful week!

Denise
