Today's layout is all about Pink Paislee. I saw Paper Secrets brand challenge and thought I'd give it a shot. I used the Old School collection to scrap this picture of Nick reciting a poem in 2nd grade. The only thing not from Pink Paislee is the apple charm, chalk I used around the octagon, and the white pen I used for the faux stitches. I also used this week's sketch from Stuck On U Sketches.
Today has been such a relaxing day, scrapping pages and watching Breaking Dawn. It's a rough life ;) I saw this sketch over at The Paper Variety and couldn't wait to use it. With today being the last day of their sketch challenge, I just made it. It took me a little while though since I decided I wanted to add some paint splatter to my page. Took forever to dry but I really like how it turned out. I'll definitely be doing it again.
The pictures are of the Mother's Day celebration at Lara's school. We ate muffins and drank Lemon water and the kids had all made beautifully painted boxes with bling attached to them for us. They also sang a couple of songs. It was so sweet.
Nick recently earned his Bear badge for Cub Scouts. During the ceremony I painted a bear paw on his check. He thought it was the coolest and I was so proud of him. He worked really hard to earn the badge. To scrap the event I used a fabulous sketch over at Got Sketch?.
I used a combination of My Minds Eye and American Crafts paper, while the Cub Scout stickers are from K & Company. The alphabet stickers are from Bobunny.
I haven't bought a whole lot of scrapbooking stuff lately (let's face it, most of us are hoarders and have lots to play with already) but when I saw the Serenity Collection debut on Bobunny's blog in January, I knew I had to have the entire line. I can't remember the last time I bought one of everything in a collection. I've been waiting (hoarding) it until I had the right pictures to use with it and decided that the pics of my girl picking at the local organic farm last month went well with the colors. And the monthly BoBunny Layout challenge worked perfectly with the vertical orientation of the pictures.
I used some of the left over strips paper to make the matching accordion flowers. Aren't the matching filigree metal embellishments gorgeous?! I placed some of the rhinestones in the center of the flowers on chipboard embellishments to add a little sparkle.
The sentiment is a sticker that says, "May your Happiness exceed your Expectations". I added Stickles around the black border and rhinestones to the "i"s to give it a little sparkle as well.
Have a great rest of the day and thanks for looking :)
Today I have a quick layout using glimmer mist and Tim Holtz masks. I also used Tim Holtz's metal embellishments. Metal embellishments scream guy pages to me. The paper is from DCWV.
I've been down with what I thought was the flu but am now starting to suspect is strep throat. Gonna have to bite the bullet and go to the dreaded doctor tomorrow. On the up side, only 3 more weeks until school is out and Summer begins!
With Mother's Day fast approaching, I decided to get to work on my Mother's Day cards. The best part of making Mother's Day cards are that you can use floral paper and add lots of flowers to it :)
I started my card by making the set of drawers and Easel card base. I used my Crafter's Companion boxer board and Advanced Techniques DVD which has the step by step directions. You can get both
For the background of my card, I pulled out a GCD 8x8 paper pad I have had in my stash, Melody Ross Homespun Chic. I punched a border on both sides of a small piece of paper and wound a pretty yellowish/green and blue ribbon from my stash. I cut out the large scalloped oval with my Grand Caliper and stamped Humphrey Me to You stamp Elephant and Happy Mother's Day sentiment. I used my Spectrum Noir pens to color all of the image with the exception of her dress which I fussy cut out which paper from my stash. Finally I added some Prima and Petaloo flowers.
I am entering my card in the following challenges:
