Birthday cards

Everyone needs lots of birthday cards, so I made a couple of quick and easy birthday cards that I am going to show my friends how to do.  We finally got a date set for next month.  We changed it to 7pm at night so we could have wine instead of coffee!  LOL.  Not my idea but I liked it.  Chris is going to stay upstairs with the kids.  How cool is that?  Here are a couple of the cards.

I will not be around till Monday as this is the weekend I going to spend getting Copic Certified w/ my bff Stacy.  We have 6 hrs of classes Sat and a whole day on Sun learning nothing but how to use Copics.  I do plan on taking pictures and sharing with you what it was like.  Should be interesting since I can't draw a straight line.  Seriously!  So if I can do it, anyone can.  I will post the winner of my April blog candy on Monday, but it will probably at night.

Hope everyone has a marvously weekend.  Don't forget to check out the 3 blog candies I have running.  They all expire very soon!

Fairy tales can come true

Like most girls, I adore fairy images. When I opened up my Fairyopolis Card kit, I was in heaven.  The first thing I wanted to use were the Fairyopolis die cuts.  They are absolutely gorgeous.  I decided to make a 12x12 canvas sign for my scrapbook room.

I started my project by painting a white piece of 12 x 12 canvas with blue acrylic paint.  I also sprayed it with lots of Glimmer Mist.  When it had dried, I adhered lace around the edges of the canvas in the back with hot glue.  By doing this, I didn't have to worry about glue showing. Once this was done,  I layered flowers along the canvas border.  I added pearls to the center of the flowers and outlined the  flower petals with Stickles.

Next, I attached a vellum quote to a piece of the Fairyopolis paper and placed it in the center of my canvas.  Isn't it just perfect?

I added a row of white flowers around the edges of the quote, applying more stickles and bling to the centers.  Then I added another row of bling inside the white flowers.  The kit contains extremely sticky three dimensional tape which I used to layer my fairies making them really pop out.  The kit contains multiple layers of the fairies just for this.  I applied more Stickles to the fairies' clothes and wings, as well.  Fairies need lots of glitter :)   Then I just had fun placing fairies and more flowers with Stickles along the petals all over the canvas.

Finally I added a sheer ribbon to the back for hanging.  I made a bow with my Crafter's Companion Ultimate Tool, which I attached to a clear thumb tack.  The bow hides the tack perfectly.  Then I hung my sign over it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.  Today is the last day of the kids' Easter Break.  Tomorrow I have a FABULOUS post and giveaway so make sure you stop by :)

Paper Flower card

Hey all,

I thought I'd post a quick card today.  It one of the cards I am going to be teaching my friends how to make during a girl's night out.   This flower really pops out.   It's a more intricate take on the folding circle tutorial where you only fold the paper circle once on each side.

This flower looks so cool in person.  I found a tutorial here.  Hope you give it a try :)

We just got back from seeing Diary of a Whimpy Kid: Roderick Rules.  We laughed our rears end off!  Definitely a good one to take your older kids too over Spring Break :)

Kids at Work

Today was absolutely GORGEOUS!  Clear skies and 90 degrees out :)))  I filled Lara's water table up in the backyard and she was in heaven.  It's actually a sand and water table, but I got rid of sand after a while. It just got too gross.

I thought I'd post a layout I did last week for Sketch Inspiration.  My friend, Stacy, and I did another timed challenge.  We could only scrap for 45 minutes and had to use paper, chipboard, twine, white marker, flowers and nothing else.  After spending so much time on design team work (have to make it look really good, right ;)) it's nice to just crank out a quick page.

All the paper is from Crate Paper.  I drew white lines on my Prima flower to add a little texture to it.  The pictures are when the kids went through out the house and fixed up all the "broken" furniture.  Everyone else in the house got a little fixing too.  LOL.

We are in Spring Break mode and the kids are in heaven.  Monday we plan to go to a local organic farm where you can feed animals, pick fruit or veggies, climb a hay stack and go all rides.  It's seriously cool.  Chris is off Monday so it'll be the whole fam.  Hurray :)  I hope all of you are enjoying you weekend too.

All Occasion card

Good morning everyone!

Yesterday, I decided to make a card with Katlin from Crate paper.   I got from my bestie, Stacy for my bday.  The soft beautiful colors are perfect for pairing with some Prima flowers.   (Okay, I can pair Prima with anything!)  I found a sketch I just loved over at Sketch Saturday.

After layering the paper, I added a stem and some blooms, then topped them off with a couple of lavendar pearls.  This was a quick and easy card, but it's one of my favorite ones I've made.

I'm happy to report that we are all feeling great which rocks because Spring Break is next week.  Nicholas is so excited about it, he giddy!  LOL.  He counts down every day.  Lara and I are looking forward to it too.  Fun, fun :)

Hope you have a creative day,

Sketchy Thursday

I saw this sketch at Sketchy Thursday and had to give it a try.  I haven't used my glimmer mist in ages so this is the perfect sketch to use if you want to pull it out.  The funny part is that I thought it was their regular weekly sketch.  It's not, it's their sketch for Guest DT for May!  LOL!!!!   I totally cracked up when I figured it out.  So I'm throwing my hat in the ring for next month :)

The paper is Prima and the stitching is rub-ons.  Love my fake stitching :)   The stamped letters are CTMH.  If you want to give their sketch a try (and have a chance to be a Sketchy Thursday GDT) head over here.

Have a wonderful afternoon :)

Stop and smell the flowers

Hey all,

How is everyone's week going?  Our is pretty quiet so far.  We are passing around another cold (or maybe the first one, lol) and Nick's on his usual breathing treatments.  It doesn't seem to be getting Lara down too much though.  Wish I had her energy!  It was adorable this morning when I took Nick to school this morning.  Lara blew him and kiss goodbye and Nick blew one right back.  Awwww :)))))

I made my card today for Berry71bleu Pages' Challenge which is to use vibrant colors.  You can check out the challenge HERE.  You can enter up to 3 times and there is a fabulous prize she is giving to one lucky winner :) You definitely want to check it out.

The stamps I used are Crafter's Companion S.W.A.L.K. Thank you.

There is also a new challenge up for Paper Playtime.  Use sunshines, rain, rainbows, clouds... or anything else pertaining to the weather on your project.  Challenge is open until midnight CST Saturday, April 23rd.

Blooming Wonderful

Today is my day to post at Crafter's Companion blog and I decided to use Crafter's Companion's new S.W.A.L.K. Collection 3 "Blooming Wonderful"stamp set.  The sweet image was perfect for a layout about my three year old daughter.   I just love these pictures of her hamming it up for the camera.  She has the best smile!  I used colored pencils to color the stamp and added tons of flowers and bling.  With a name like Blooming Wonderful, how could I not?

Hope everyone has a good morning :)

Lara's first layout

Nicholas is home sick today w/ a bad cough so I haven't had time to make anything today.  I do have Lara's first layout to show off though.  I am such a proud mama :)  Lara's favorite color is blue, can you tell?  She picked out the pictures she wanted to use, as well.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!

Christmas Day layout

Halfway throught the week!  Lara is loving this week.  She is the star of the week at her preschool.  She got to take "Froggie" the stuffed animals home last Friday and she takes him everywhere.  She is bringing apple slices to school today and can't wait.  I just love this age when the kids WANT to go to school.  At 8, Nick would rather stay home and play.  He's already learned the fine art of pretending he's sicker than he is.  He's not very good at though, yet!  LOL.  I remember faking it for my parents a few times ;)

I am getting so many layout done with these timed layout!  Stacy and I did a Sketchy Thursday sketch this time around.   We had 45 minutes and could use stamps, bling, stickles, and Vellum.  Here is Stacy's.  I just love how it turned out!!!  So beautiful!

Here's mine.  I decided to make a page with Nicholas' hilarious shirt that he got from my mom-in-law.  It's tough to read the vellum title, but it's says "Christmas Day".  Most of the paper is from MME.

I am also entering my layout in the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge blog - Anything but a card challenge
Charisma Cardz Challenge - Bling and Sparkles

I also got a layout done that I LOVE but I have to to wait till next week to post it.

Don't forget to enter my two giveaways if you haven't already.

Have a fantastic day!

A Frosted Design Sketch and Project 2011

I did a fun sketch this weekend using Frosted Design's Sketch with my friend, Stacy.  (via email).  We had 45 minutes and had to use Stickers (that is always so hard for me!), flowers, metal (could be colored) and Stickles.  Nothing else.  I really liked getting into my stash and using some of my neglected stickers.

Also it's time for your Project 2011 update.  I will post the links of everyone's blog on Tuesday so get them ready :)

As to my month...I failed miserably!  Just completely failed.  And you know how that goes, spend money on something might as well keep going since I already caved...LOL!!!  First I signed up for a Copic Cert. Class.  And then I actually needed to buy a few Copics if I was going to learn how to use them.  Then Stacy told me there were 3 other Copic classes the day before the Cert. Class by the same teacher.  Okay that was bad.  But then I fould out that some of my favorite companies were having a whole weekend with their owners and top designers.  One of them was Prima, so I HAAAAAD (whiny voice) to sign up.  It's only being held a couple hours away from me.  And then I needed a hotel for Stacy and I to share. ( She was my partner in crime and failed this month too.)

One the plus side though, I used up some old supplies I've had such as paper, stickers, and flowers.

Being my birthday, I got a couple of gift cards.  Do I go and spend them and hope my willpower will keep me from going over?  Will I turn to the dark side again?  Guess we'll see.  Stacy sent me a lovely gift package of awesome scrap stuff to play with, as well as a gift card to Michaels.  It's she so sweet?  I also got a gift card to Joann's from my mom-in-law, as well as a new DCWV paper pack.  Yup, I am in heaven!

Can't wait to see how you all did this month!  Any other repressed shoppers go nuts?  Or did you do better this month?
