A question for those of you who have taken the Copic Certification Class.

Hey everyone, if you have any input about this class, I would REALLY appreicate it.  I am taking the Copic Cert. class in May and am wondering what I should do before it starts.  Should I bring a few.  I don't use Copics so what do you suggest I buy to start practicing?  Like which colors or color families and Ciao's vs sketch markers.

Thank you so much for the help :)

I haven't taken a class but I started small with my collection with skin tones and few browns for hair. I went wrong by picking one pen from each colour but you don't get the blending then so pick a couple of colours and get pens close in number. Suzanne Dean has a great starter list on her tutorial site
I went mostly ciao as they are so much cheaper but have a few sketch now for the wider colour range.

One of my friends wants to do one of these classes too. You will have to post how it is after. Have fun and hope you get some info.

You shouldn't have to do anything before the class. They will give you a little goodie bag of pens to use in the class, plus as I remember they have some on the table to use. It is such a helpful class, I highly recommend it. Have fun!

If you want to buy some markers I encourage you to buy some from the same palette (eg Earth colours or the shades of green) and the colourless blender - this will help you to learn how to blend the colours together. Choose Sketch or Ciao markers, they have that awesome brush nib, and they fit a woman's hand better =) (the Classics are bigger)
In addition to this, a marker pad is a very useful thing to buy (25 sheets is enough for the start) - it saves a lot of ink and again, the colours blend much better.
I've been using Copics for like, 6 or 7 years and its my favourite tool ever.
I'll answer your questions concerning this medium with pleasure =)
