Girly Girl

Just a quick post for today showing off my girly girl.  I've been crazy busy this week.  I made this sketch  in 45 minutes.  Stacy and I were doing another timed layout challenge.

The sketch I used is from Scraptivations. It is their very first challenge!

Have a wonderful day!

Smile (A timed layout)

Stacy and I had such a good time and a good laugh (even through emails) over our last timed contest that we decided to do it again.  I pick the sketch this time from Sketchy Thursdays.  We had 45 minutes and had to distress, use a white marker, use chipboard, and a quote.  We decided that you could use ink and border punches if we wanted to.  It was so much fun!!!  It was the perfect amount of time.  You don't need a ton of time when you are limited to supplies.  I used all the time, but wasn't stressed at all.  I don't feel like I need to add anything after the fact either.  I did have to go through several quotes to find one that would fit and readhered my pics three times because I couldn't decide how I was going to do the paper.

Here's how my layout turned out:

Here's Stacy's:

The Sketch is this week's Sketchy Thursdays challenge, so have a try at it too :)  I am also entering it at Sketches in Thyme where the challenge is use any sketch.

Have a wonderful weekend,

A fun and crazy Contest between friends

Yesterday Stacy challenged me t make a layout in 30 minutes.  She told me what size pictures I need and gave me 4 items I could use on my page (nothing else) and sent me a sketch at exactly the time to begin.  Oh my gosh, you should have seen me cutting up paper and throwing embellishments around!  It was really crazy.  And fun.

I could use ribbon, embossing, eyelets, and vellum.  (She had her daughter pick them out of a hat containing all the embellishments).  She gave me this sketch by Liz Qualman:

Here is Stacy's.

Here is mine:

When all was said and done we decided that we would change the time to 45 minutes and allow for punches.  We decided that we are going to do it again tomorrow.  It is so much fun and you get a layout done really quickly!

I did change just a couple of things after the fact.  I added a couple of ribbons, free hand cut around the All Boy title, and inked up a chipboard man.

Okay I have a couple blog awards I need to post, but I've been crazy working on a supersecret project for Crafter's Companion.  More about that soon ;)

*  I noticed that Sketches in Thyme has an open sketch challenge so I am going to enter my layout there as well.

Have a scrap-filled weekend!

Noel and an awesome convention

Yeah, I'm a little behind in scrapping the holidays.  I have found that I drag when scrapping holidays or birthdays.  I like doing the day to day layouts where I can use different paper and embellishments every time.  I just get bored using Christmas paper, etc over and over again.  So it takes me forever to get it done. Today's layout was done with Making Memories Noel line.  Perfect for the picture of Lara walking down the church to sing w/ her preschool class.

I used a sketch by Sketches4All and am entering my layout in the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp and Show - A word
Sketches in Thyme - open sketch

Also I wanted to share what looks like the best scrapbooking convention I've ever seen.  It is being held by Prima, Tattered Angels, and Pink Paislee in Riverside, CA.  The owners of TA and PP will be teaching the classes, as will all the top gals at Prima!  I already signed up w/ my friend Stacy so if you decide to go, let's meet up :)

You can check it out here.  If you are part of my Project 2011 team, you did not see this!  LOL.

Have a great day everyone.  It's almost Friday!  Whooo Hoo!

My first two gift boxes

When I started using The Ultimate Crafters Companion tool, I was amazed how quickly and perfectly my boxes came out. These are the first two boxes I created.   Both were made from an 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 square sheet of Pearlescent paper.  You can also use 12 x 12 paper, if you want to make larger boxes.  By changing the score line while making them, I was able to decide how large I wanted each box without having to measure anything.  The directions were very simple and easy to follow.

The first gift box I made I decide to use my Cute Companions Duo's Stamp set, Handmade with Love.  I began by adding designer paper to the sides of the lid.  I then wrapped ribbon around the lid, adhering the edges inside the box with adhesive.  After adding a few flowers, I colored my stamped card image and used pop dots to adhere it to the box.

Handmade with love has so many adorable images, perfect for personalize a gift or card.  Isn't the mouse with the paintbrush adorable?

The second box I made in five minute!  Having already made the first one, I quickly whipped throught making it and added a sheet of designer paper to the top of the lid.  I attached a quick Baby sentiment to it and I was done.  Perfect for adding a gift certificate to for a last minute gift.  I'm looking forward to trying out the Octogon and triangular boxes next.

Have a great day!

Birthday box and winner

Hey everyone,

Hope you all had a nice weekend.  It went by way too fast for my taste.   We had a pretty good storm come in on Sunday and the creek was raging pretty good.  Nicholas, the little worry wart, kept saying, "This is the worst day ever!"  He was sure the creek would end up flooding the house.  Poor little guy.  It wasn't THAT close.  It sure did look cool though.  Today the sun is shining and it's a beautiful day.

I've been playing with my new Ultimate Crafter's Companion tool and making boxes.  They are so easy to make, it's a little addicting.  This is the third box I've made with it.  The first couple I'll be posting to the Crafter's Companion blog on Wednesday.  I decided to make a birthday box today.  Can't have enough of those.  I used Sassafras Lass paper and stickers to decorate it.  The cute little bear in a wagon is from the Birthday Bash Cricut Cartridge.  It's cut at 6 inches and the box measures about 9 square inches.  My hubby got me some cricut carts for my birthday and gave them to me early :)))

I am entering it into the following challenges:

Fantabulous Cricut - Birthday

I also have the winner for my blog candy.  If you didn't win, make sure to check back next week.  There is going to be an awesome giveaway posted on the 1st (and not just from me).  Trust me, You won't want to miss it.  Today's winner though is:

Random number between 1 and 9242

Silly Bandz

I decided to make a layout of Nicholas wearing all his silly bandz.  I bought him a huge package of 120 for next to nothing on Amazon.  (Okay, they are knockoffs)  "Because everyone is wearing them, Mom!"  You should have seen his face when he opened them all.  Hilarious.

I used BoBunny paper and stickers, and inked up, glimmer misted, and then Crackle painted grungeboard and chipboard stars.  I used my Irock to add some silver gems to the ribbon at the bottom.  They set in about a second right INTO the ribbon.  It was pretty cool.  The sketch is from Sketch Inspiration.

I am so thrilled it is Friday.  Nicholas got his report card today and he did great.  We are going to meet my mom & stepdad at Topper's tomorrow and let him go wild in the arcade.  Not too expensive because Lara doesn't seem to understand that she needs quarters to play the games :)  Lara had a great day today too.  She came home from preschool covered in white and blue paint.  Hair included.  She thought it was hilarious when I asked her about it.

Have a fun weekend everyone!  We are off to blow bubbles.

A question for those of you who have taken the Copic Certification Class.

Hey everyone, if you have any input about this class, I would REALLY appreicate it.  I am taking the Copic Cert. class in May and am wondering what I should do before it starts.  Should I bring a few.  I don't use Copics so what do you suggest I buy to start practicing?  Like which colors or color families and Ciao's vs sketch markers.

Thank you so much for the help :)

Bunches of Love

My first official post at Crafter's Companion's blog is up!  It was nerve racking to write it,  I'll tell you.  Oh the  I think it turned out well.  Here's my card for it.

It features Crafter's Companion Popcorn the Bear collection.  Crafter's Companion has so many stamp sets featuring Popcorn the Bear which you will see on our blog.  I thought their Bunches of Love Stamp Set would be perfect for an Easter card.  Isn't he so cute?

The card base is Crafter's Companion's Pearlescent paper.  You can see the wonderful shiny texture.  I colored Popcorn with watercolor pencils and then used a small paintbrush to apply water.  By doing that, it creates a painted look with softer lines.  I made the bows in the corner from the bow maker feature on my Ultimate Crafter's Companion tool.  The bows come out perfectly every time.  I also made my envelope with the Ultimate Crafter's Companion tool as well.  I made it 30 seconds!  And it was only the second time I had made one.  No more buying envelopes for :)

Today I am hoping to get some crafting done and visit some blogs.  I have been dealing with a massive migraine and was pretty much out for the count the last couple of days.  Happily, it's just a dull roar now and I feel human again.  Hurray!

Enjoy your day,

Happy Birthday Tri-Fold Shutter Card

The new challenge is up over at Paper Playtime.  It's a really fun one... you get to choose from 3 different options for your paper project.  The choices are using 1) Pink and glitter or 2) The colors green and purple or 3) Use a Critter and a rhyme.  So many fun choices!

I decided to go with Pink and glitter and make another Tri-Fold Shutter card.  I just love how these look and after a couple of them, they are so easy to make.   I made a birthday card because I never seem to have enough of them.

I used the Birthday Bash Cricut cartridge to make the bird and balloons.  I sprayed the balloons with adhesive and added glitter to them.  The paper is from My Little Shoebox and the Birthday stickers are from K& Company.  Thanks Pam!   Now it's your turn.  You can make any kind of project just as long as you use paper.  The challenges are now biweekly so you'll have plenty of time.  One random winner  (must have a USA shipping address) from this challenge (using will receive:
April Showers Cricut Cartridige!  Sponsored by:  Cravin Scrappin

A second winner (must have a USA shipping address) from this challenge (using will receive:

Vintage card for a friend

I didn't make the cut at G45, but the love affair with their paper continues.  I decided to make a Tri-fold Shutter card with their Curtain Call.  I love all the different patterns on it, especially the peacock feathers.

I used the Cricut cartridge Forever Young for the two women images on the end.  And, of course, they needed a little bling on their clothes!

The quote reads, "Allow yourself to Trust Joy and embrace it... You will find that You Dance with everything.  Emerson" and is from Quick Quotes.  Everything else is cut out of Curtain Call paper.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Lara and I went for a walk with a girlfriend of mine today.  We stopped by a park on our way back and she was in heaven.  So was I... I dressed her up in a new outfit she got from her great-grandma and I got some totally cute pictures to scrap :)   Her laugh is so contagious.  You can tell she was having so much fun.

Tomorrow, she and I have a field trip w/ her preschool to our local community college's Zoo. Hopefully I'll remember my camera this trip to the zoo!  Now, what to dress her in...  Did I mention it's in the 80s today?  I'm thinking a dress, IF she'll agree to it.

See ya tomorrow,

Controlled Mayhem

What is it about boxes that kids go crazy over them?  When I got these boxes out, the kids were in heaven.  They must have played in them for an hour!  They took turns completely closing the top and then "opening the package".  It was sooo cute.

The paper and tags are from G45's Le Cirque, flowers were from Prima, Ribbon is from Webster's and the painted corners were from Pink Paislee.  I just love the bright colors in Le Cirque.  I think I need to plan a day to the circus just so I can use it some more ;)

Hope everyone's day is fabulous,

Catching up and the Scrap Our Stash challenge

It's amazing how cool this last week has been.  I've been scrapping for over 10 years.  Since I started blogging a year and a half ago, I have had a blast meeting really talented and sweet bloggers whom I can call my friends.  And the challenge blogs, so love them!  This week though has been crazy for me.  Crazy in a this is sooo awesome way.  I was asked by my local scrapbook store (Treasured Memories ) to host an 8 hour crop once a month on Saturdays.  Twist my arm!  Talk to people about scrapping for 8 hours... ummm fabulous!   I've also become really involved with Crafter's Companion and am so loving it! Today is the first day of my new role there as DT Leader.  Whooo Hoo!!!  Our fearless leader, Bindy, who is organizing this very new team is so incredibly sweet!!!  I can't wait to start designing for them.  She is so enthusiastic and is so incredibly cool.  I love her attitude!  I just want to pinch myself!    It's really amazing.  I wasn't looking for any of it, but I really feel like I'm in my element and so happy to be able to (hopefully) inspire and excite people about scrapbooking.   It's a scrapper's dream come true.

Okay, enough gushing, lol.  March's Dust it off Challenge at Scrap Our Stash was such a stash buster for me.  Love it!  The Challlenge is to dust off something that you haven't used in a long while.  It could be a tool, product, unfinished project or technique.  I decided to dust off my fibers.  I used a ton of them with my project to make bookmarks for my son's class.  I got the idea from volunteering during his class' library time and watching the kids go nuts over new bookmarks.

I used my Cricut machine to cut out the bookmarks (Plantin Schoolbook), the letters Read (Plantin Schoolbook), and the boy and girl reading a book images (A Child's Year).  I laminated them to make them more sturdy and last longer.  Then I added an eyelet. I used some fibers I had on hand and added some beads for a little bling.  It took me a while to make 24 of these, but the reactions of the kids made it so worth it.  As soon as it was time for them to get them, I got mobbed!  LOL.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!  See ya tomorrow,

It's good to be the queen

The next two months I will with designing for Paper Playtime.  They have both digital and traditional challenges!  How cool is that?!  I will be designing for the traditional challenges.  So excited about it.  Right now there is an anything goes digi challenge.  So if you are a digi user, hop on over and submit a project.  They have all kinds of prizes from different companies.

Today is also the first so there is a new monthly challenge over at Scrap our Stash.  This month's challenge is to dig out something that is gathering dust and use it!  It can be a tool, a supply, a technique, or even a project you just haven't gotten around to finishing.  This is a great challenge for all of us.  What will you scrap with?

Project 2011 links and March Sign ups

I have to say this month was much easier than last month.  I did go to my local scrapbook store to buy a few Graphic 45 papers and a sheet of their stickers so I could make a card with it for their design team call, but that was it!  It helped that I got what I needed and then immediately left ;)  I used a ton of my stash this month too.  In particular, my fibers.  I used a ton of them!  (Can't show you on what yet, though).  And a ton of paper.  My leftover scrap papers pile is huge right now.  Time to make some cards and cricut projects with them.  There are so many different challenge blogs out there to get you inspired to create something new.

I have to say I have loved reading all your comments on how you are all doing with this challenge.  I just crack up with some of your trials and tribulations!   And I have to give Caro at Scrapping Nomad props.  She used up all her stash!  Here are the links to all our February Blogs.  If you get a chance, drop by and leave each other some encouraging words.
