Project 2011 - End of January accounting

I did not think this would be so hard the very first month I did this.  So many gorgeous new collections and toys coming out right before CHA.  Temptation everyone!!  What I got accomplished: I did unsubscribe from all the emails subscribtions to any stores online.  That really helped b/c I didn't have to see all the awesome sales.  I got 6 pages done from kits.  I used a ton of my paper stash, flowers and fibers.  I used up a lot of pearls on a paper wreath I have been working on.  The wreath was left over from Christmas.  And my Cricut has been used in most of my projects.  I love that I'm getting so much use out of my cartridges these days.  Now the confession:  I got two Cricut carts for $26.  It was soo cheap, and I needed them for the Flaunt it Fridays Designs.  Okay, okay, lame justification ;0  But for the first month I think that's not too bad.  I was able to withstand the desire to buy the Immortal Love paper from DCWV.  Barely, but I didn't buy it!

On to February, let's see how next month goes.  I'm hoping it's going to be easier as we go along!!  Here are all the links to the rest of the Project 2011 gals.  I hope you will all go around and see how the rest of us are doing and leave some encouragement or props, depending on their willpower, LOL.  I will post a separate February sign up, as Mr. Linky isn't working well with inlinkz.  Go figure.

The new Flaunt it Friday and Sassy 'lil Sketches challenges

This week went by waaaay too fast!  I blinked and it was gone.  I have two new challenges to share with you.  First is Sassy 'Lil sketches newest sketch.

This sketch is perfect for a favorite 5x7 picture.

Flaunt if Fridays new challenge is oldie but goodie cartridges that has been forgotten because there are so many carts out there how can we keep up LOL! For this challenge we are asking you to make something with the PAPER PUPS cartridge and the cut choice this week Paper Pups Border Feature Dog & Cat page 104 from your handbook. You can create anything you want and for an extra challenge try to challenge yourself to create something different from last week's project. If you do not own this cart feel free to use any similar cut from any cartridge, you have one week to enter the challenge.

Here is Sandra's example using the cut mentioned above.

Finally, don't forget to stop by tomorrow for the Bitten by the Love Bug Blog hop.  See ya tomorrow :)

For a Sunny day

I have been doing lots of papercrafting lately, but for Nicholas' class, so I didn't have anything to post earlier this week.  And I bought all the Twilight books on my Kindle so I could reread them.  I just love those books and movies.  It's embarrassing, I know.  Though last night Chris used the word fangbanger to describe Bella when I made him sit through New Moon again.  So now who's silly?!  Ha! (The word comes from HBOs Trueblood which we both watch.)  Today though I finally made something I could share :)

I love the idea of saving for a rainy day.  But I hate rainy days.  I just want to be inside with the fireplace.  And then there is the fact that we just don't have very many of them in Southern Califoria.  (It's been hot all week).  So I decided to make a tin for a Sunny day :)  I had the perfect paper and stickers for it too.  Sunny Happy Skies from Bella Blvd.  I love the bright colors in it.  for the can, I used a coffee container and punch a hole in the lid.  Easy Peasy.

I always throw all my change into my junk drawer where most things are never seen again.  So after pulling all of it out it is already pretty heavy.   I think it would be fun to save for overnight or day trips to amusement parks.  There is always something fun to do around here.

The kids LOVED the zoo.  The lions and gorillas were the big hits.  Lara thought it was so funny to watch the male lion bath the female lion.  She is already asking to go again.  I brought a camera but then left it in the car.  Whoops.  My mil promised to send me a few of hers though.  (Thanks Pam!)

Hope everyone is having a great week.  I am going to try to get to some blogs tonight and say hello.  Also, don't forget that there is a blog hop Saturday starting at Inking it up Crazy with Kassidy.  I'll have some blog candy for it, of course :)

Give a hoot

This week at Flaunt it Fridays we are flaunting one of the cute cartridges that came out last year.   For this challenge we are asking you to make something with the GIVE A HOOT cartridge and the cut choice this week is the Bear in Trash Can on Page 61 from your handbook. You can create anything you want and if you do not own this cart feel free to use any similar cut from any cartridge, you have one week to enter the challenege.

I thought the cute little bear image would be perfect to add some pizzazz to one of my reusable plastic shopping bags.

All of the cuts are from Give a Hoot.  There are so many darling images in this cartridges!  Hope I get to see some of you make a project for this week's challenge.

Sassy 'Lil Sketches also has a new sketch for you today.  I am loving the banner!  Why not combine the two challenges?

It's Friday!  Whoo Hoo!  We are going to the L.A. zoo tomorrow.  They have a huge gorilla population that is sooo fun to watch. Lara wants to see the lions.  What are your plans this weekend?  Sounds like a lot of you have snow where you are. Any fun snow activities or staying in and staying warm?  Maybe some scrapping?  Whatever you do, have fun doing it :)

January's challenge at Scrap Our Stash Challenge blog was such an inspiration for me to finally pull out my coveted Prima Fairy Flora Paper.  I bought them in November and they were so beautiful I hadn't wanted to use them.  How silly of me.  No one got to see them sitting on a shelf, including me.  I also had some gorgeous Prima flowers to use with it.  I tend to collect and hoard Prima flowers and paper.  No more!  I am determined to Scrap my Stash all year long.  The layout itself is this month's NEW Prima sketch.  With all this newness, I chose a very old photograph for my layout.  It is a photo of my mother, sister, and me.  (I'm on the right).  I have framed it and put it on the wall of my scraproom so I can see it whenever I scrap :)

Now it's your turn to take the January Challenge. See all the details HERE

Bee Fabulous

The kids and I had a blast yesterday at the beach.  When we were leaving both kids immediately asked when we could come back.  It is tough to keep a sharp eye on both kids while they run around in the water.  The waves were pretty high.  I think I'll make Chris come with us next time.

Today card is a total girls' card.  The paper is BasicGrey's Nook and Pantry line and the sketch was made by Gloria Stengel.

I'm am entering it in the BasicGrey Challenges (spots or dots).

Hope everyone is having a fabulous week!

Playing w/ G45 and some fabulous challenges

Hey everyone,

I this G45 Once upon a Springtime is soooo gorgeous!  I just love it.  When I saw it come out in December I had to have.  I fussy cut them images and the quote says, "Life itself is the most wonderful fairytale."  I printed it out on my computer on vellum paper and then attached it with V2.  The ribbon I used is from Close to My Heart.

I'm entering it into the following challenges:
Cupcake Craft Challenges - Something new

Today is also the day for the new challenge over at Flaunt it Fridays, as well as a new sketch from Sassy 'Lil Sketches.  Why not combine them and enter them both?

For this week's challenge we are flaunting the Mini Monster's skull on page 65. If you would like to enter our challenge please make a NON-Halloween project and if you like we challenge you to make something different from what you made last week, for example if you made a card last week make a layout, altered item, etc. Remember if you don't have this cricut cartridge, you can use a skull from another one.

The sketch over at Sassy 'Lil Sketches is a card sketch this week.

Hope to see you joining in the fun with these :)  Have a fabulous weekend!

Quick card

I have a quick card for you today.  Make it Colourful challenge blog had a great challenge w/ colors and digis and Let's Scrap had a fun challenge where you use one of their layout sketches and turn it into a card.  So between those two here's what I came up with:

Here is the Let's Scrap sketch I chose.  (The left side)

The papers are Basic Grey and the clear plastic tags are Tim Holtz.  I don't remember whose digi this is, but it was a freebie I found.  I colored it Zig markers. I am also entering this at Paper Play Challenges where the challenge is Cutie Patootie.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Home for the holidays

Halfway through the week already!  Man, this week seems to be flying by.  Today I scrapped a page based on Frosted Designs' sketch challenge.  This is my new all time favorite picture of the kids.  Speaking of which, they have been so sweet to each other the last couple days.  Love it!  Makes me crazy when they fight.

The paper, stickers, and snowflakes are from Imaginese's Christmas Cottage.  Love how pretty this line is. I think the chipboard ornaments are Creative Imaganations.  I glimmer misted the ornaments, then sprayed it with V2 and sprinkled it with red glitter (PK Glitz), and stuck on it border stickers that are a metallic gold and silver.  I also submitted this for the 2nd bling challenge at Sketches4All.  The challenge was to use metallics.

Hope your day is going well!

All good things must come to an end

**** If you are looking for the Flaunt it Friday Blog hop, see the previous post. ***

This is the last month I will be posting a project as a Sassy 'Lil Sketches Designer.  Being a part of their design team has been such an amazing experience and I have made such great friends there.  Not to mention I think their sketches are the best around.  So though I won't be designing, I will definitely be participating in their sketch challenges.  Here is my layout for their first sketch of 2011.

The paper is from Bobunny and the backpack and ruler were cut from the Locker Talk Cartridge.  I used Ranger's liquid perfect pearls to grunge up my banner and paper.  Here is Cheri's gorgeous sketch:

We have some awesome prize sponsors this month, as usual.  So whether you scrapbook traditionally or digitally, you can play along.

Our digitial sponsor is CocoDingo

Have a fantastic Friday Everyone!!

Flaunt It Fridays Hello Kitty Blog Hop

Welcome to the Flaunt It Friday's Hello Kitty Blog Hop. If you are here from Jess's gorgeous blog than you are in the right spot. If you just arrived here and would like to start from the beginning please go directly to the  Flaunt It Fridays blog. For this week's challenge we were asked to flaunt the Hello Kitty with Airplane on Page from the Hello Kitty Greeting Cart.
I didn't have the Hello Kitty Cricut cartridge, so I made my own Hello Kitty image for a card.  The airplane is cut from Mickey and Friends cartridge (127).  The cute little kitty is from Create a Critter cartridge (38).  I thought Rusty Pickle's Candy land line was perfect for Hello Kitty.  Looks very cartoonish.  And of course, I had to add some glitter and bling to it ;)

Now for my second project we got to choose any cut from the Hello Kitty Greetings or use a cat from another cartridge.  I chose to make a Halloween layout as I still had a few more pictures I needed to scrap.  The cat is from October 31st cartridge, as is the spider web.  The Spooky sign is from Happy Hauntings (page 35). The frame is from Pink Paislee which I sprayed it with green glimmer mist.

What is a blog hop without some candy?  I am giving out the following blog candy for one of my followers who comment below.

I love Helmar's glue and have an extra Crackle Medium Step 1 and 2 to share.  It is an easy to use two step crackle medium that creates a cracked surface effect to collage, d'coupage and many other arts & craft projects.

The Flaunt it Friday hop will run all weekend long and I will chose the winner for my blog candy on Tuesday, January 10th.
Thank You so much for taking the time to hop with us for the Flaunt It Friday's Hello Kitty Blog hop.  We can't wait to see how you "Flaunt" your Hello Kitty this week at Flaunt It Fridays

Your NEXT STOP is the talented Corri at Bug Lover Cards.

Have fun hopping!

Struggling with Project 2011 yet? Read this note I got from a friend.

It's hard to break that spending habit when so many scrapbook companies have such beautiful projects.  I got a note from Betty who wrote this yesterday about her struggle to stay on course.

"Well I must tell you it was very hard to keep my scrap my stash promise. My LSS sent me a message that everything is 25% off and I was actually at a store two doors down from there and didn't go shopping.
Next I hit the dollor store and they have a bunch of their scrapping stuff on for 50% off. I ran from the store screaming.
Then I get to Walmart and they have their Christmas Scrapbooking stuff on 75 % off. And I still didn't buy anything. Of course I have been in a deep depression ever since. I may have to go shopping to pull myself out of my funk LOL."

I totally cracked up when I read this!  I could just image her running out of the door clutching her hair, eyes  bulging, and screaming.  LMAO off Betty!!  Good for you for staying strong!!!  So, if you are struggling, you are not the only one.  They say it takes 2 weeks to make a habbit.  Keep at it.  If Betty could turn away from 3 different sales, you can too!!

One idea to make it a little easier is to unsubscribe to all your usual online shopping newsletters.  No more Scrapbook Steals, Crafty Steals,  You can always rejoin later when you have lots of money from saving it in the next months :)

Just Because and a couple websites for you to check out

Hey Everyone,

I spent the day making a layout for a design team, but I decided to make a card out of the leftovers I had.  My friend Stacy has made this her personal challenge with her stash.  Fabulous idea though, isn't it?  Everything is already coordinated and ready to go.

I never have enough everyday cards so I thought I make one with my Fairy Flora from Prima.  The flower is also Prima. The Cricut cut is from Create a Critter.  I used stickles to give it a little pizzazz.  The larger Rhinestones were applied with the Irock.  It's so hard to get anything to stick to glitter, but the Irock will definitely keep the rhinestones on.  The stamp Just Because is from Paper Pretties.

The card sketch I used was from Sketch and Stash Challenge Blog.

I am also entering this in:
Flutterby Wednesdays - Use a butterfly, fairy or angel
Fab 'N Funky Challenges - Anything goes

Flutterby Wednesdays is having a blog hop so you may want to go check it out.  Also, PK Glitz has change their blog site, so you'll want to go check out their new one.  They are giving away awesome PK Glitz products!!!

I'm off to pick up Nick and take the kids to the library.  Have a good one,

A Christmas layout and more about Project 2011

Hey everyone,

I've had a few questions about Project 2011, so I thought I'd talk a little more about it.  Project 2011 is a group of scrappers who are using their stash for their projects, and avoiding the stores.  If this sounds like something you are interested in, click HERE and enter your blog link.  You can do it for one month, two months, or six months like I am.  I will have a new sign up every month.  There are no hard and fast rules.  You decided which stash to use, what to make, etc.  At the end of the month, I will relist all the blogs and we will all visit one another and leave encouraging comments with our fellow scrappers.  Don't worry about details like monthly kits, gifts, blog candy etc.  If you have them, great.  The goal of Project 2011 is only to use your stash, rather than hitting the stores for products.  Love to have more people sign up.  It's a great way to meet other bloggers and get some new ideas as well.

Also, Scrap Our Stash challenge, is having a great January challenge.  The challenge is use something "new".  It could be a new technique you are trying, a new tool, or maybe something you were given as gift over Christmas.

Don't forget that Flaunt it Fridays will be having a Hello Kitty blog hop.  There are going to be 30 blogs participating!!!  I finished up my 2nd project for the blog hop today.  Can't wait to share it :)

I also pulled out a Christmas kit I made at the CKC convention.  My personal stash goal this month is to get some of my kits pages done and into an album.

Hope you had a creative day,

Toddler Rules

Today the kids went back to school and I was able to sit down and spend some quality time scrapping.  I'm feeling MUCH better and couldn't wait to play!  But since the layouts are for design teams, I can't show them to you just yet.

I also pulled out a mostly finished layout I had sitting around.   I have a lot of LOs that I did at various conventions just waiting for pictures.  They are definitely part of my stash I want to finish up and get into albums.  This one was a kit I bought.

How are you doing on your stash?  Get any scrapping done in 2011?  I'm so glad that there are many of you that are joining me in Project 2011.  If sure helps to have encouragement from others.  I will post all the names/blog addresses on my blog on February 1st and we can all visit check in with each other to see what progress we've made.  If you haven't joined yet and want to, just add your blog link in the previous post.

Remember that this Friday is the Flaunt it Fridays Hello Kitty Blog hop.  There are going to be tons of projects sure to inspire you, not to mention lots of great giveaways!

That's it for now, have a great night!
