Guest DT layout "Wild"

Happy Halloween everyone!!!  Hope you have a great night and get to eat lots of candy.  I am spending Halloween with my sister and her family and my dad.  The four kids are going to go trick or treating together.  I can't wait to see how the little ones do.  I'm really happy about seeing her tomorrow as she is moving to Tennessee on Monday :(  Waaaaaaaa.  Her hubby who is a SeaBee has a new job. It's really good for his career and she is hoping to stay home with the twins for a little while.  It's going to be so weird having her gone.  We've always lived close by and we are very close.  I'm definitely going to have to make a few trips out there to visit them.

Alright, enough whining.  Here is a layout that I made for Scrap Our Stash as their guest design team member.  The Challenge was to scrap something you had been putting off.

My "Do that project “ was scrapping a page about my life as a young adult.  The first reason was that I knew I would have to go through several shoeboxes to find the pictures.  This actually turned out to be really enjoyable as I went down memory lane.  The other reason was that I keep very busy with all the pictures of my children.  So after I went through my boxes and found some pictures I wanted to use, I scrapped this layout.

I went crazy with my Fancy Pants rub-on and the paper is also from Fancy Pants.  The blue flowers are from Prima.  The vellum quote I cut up was from Quick Quotes and reads,” Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, “WOW!  What a ride!”  I used a Sketch Inpiration sketch.

Tomorrow is also the last day as a Design Team member of Sketches4you.  I have really enjoyed my time there.  Everyone is incredibly nice and chatty.  But as Christmas approaches, I am not going to have enough time it takes to be a design team member on such a large site.  I have post in an application though for a challenge site where I will only be required to complete two sketches or cards a month.  Cross your fingers for me :

Cards and Movie

Hey gals,

As you know, I am a guest DT over at Scrap Our Stash.  I submitted a Frugal Friday tip for them.   Here's my post.

Every so often, when my scraps start piling up, I decide to make some quick and easy cards while I watch a movie.  Now that it’s fall, it’s the perfect time to do it as the weather turns colder.   Here’s what I use on them:  Stamps, ink, couple of punches, trimmer, my scrap embellishments and some glue.

Here’s what I do.

I pull out some scraps and match by color.

Using what I have I cut the pieces up into various pieces for a 4x6 card.  Here’s where I use my punches.  I also ink up all the pieces once this is done.

After I’ve cut it all up, I stamp sentiments and images on the pieces of cardstock and add some embellishments from my stash of embellishments.  These are embellishments that are extras from kits etc.

Here’s how my cards came out.

So I enjoyed a funny movie and have some fun notes to send off to my friends and family.  I really enjoy doing this.  Hope you’ll give it a try.

If you get time, I'd love you to head over there and leave some love :)

Hugs,  Lala

Fall Harvest, a Sassy 'Lil Sketch, and bullies

Hey gals,

I'm still here, barely.  Just kidding.  This morning Lara and I went to both my doctor's office and hers.  We both have sinus infections and she has an ear infection as well.  That explains the low grade fever.  Sheesh, we've been sick for like what 2 weeks now?  At least we have some antibiotics and cough medicine :)

It's been a tough week and I'm ready for the weekend.  Nicholas had an incident as school where a girl in his class told him, "Bring me a dollar tomorrow, or I'll kill you.  And I'm a black belt."  There is a book fair going on and she wanted money to spend there.  He came home crying and finallly told me about it.  Nick was so traumitized he cried when he went to sleep talking about have to go back to school.  I let him sleep with me.  In the morning he came up with all kinds of ailments and told me he was scared to go to school.  Poor baby!!!  And this is 2nd grade!  The whole thing blew my mind.

Anyway, I talked to his teacher and she said she would talk to the girl.  They take these things very seriously and the principal interviewed the kids separately.  Turns out there were two other girls there watching.  The girl was remorseful and got punished at home and at school.  Not sure what it was, but I did say to the principle that given the age of the children that she shouldn't come down too hard on her.  After all she is only 9. So I think she probably lost some recess.  She wrote Nick an apology as well.  After showing me it when Nick got home, he said he forgave her right away and they are friends.  I was so proud of him!

Okay on to scrapbooking, this is a page I had done a while back and hated.  So I fixed it up and here is.  It is two years old.  It was taken at Nicholas' Fall Carnival.  The tiger is their mascot.

Here is the new Sassy sketch:

Pretty fabulous, isn't it?  If you decide to use it, enter it over at Sassy 'Lil Sketches for a chance to win a prize :)

Well, that's it from me except to apologize for not stopping by your blogs recently.  I just haven't had ANY energy.   Have a good one.

Card Crazy week 4

Sassy 'Lil Sketches released their last card sketch yesterdaty for the Card Crazy month long celebration.  I love the layers on this one.   Go to Sassy 'Lil Sketches and check it out.  l Here's my take on it.

Notice the fire in the background?  I'm still feeling cruddy so I thought a fire would be nice.  I may have to break down and get some antibiotics :(  Ugh, I hate going to the doctor's!  We'll  Have a good night :)

I'm just celebrating having the best followers ever!

I've been reading all your awesome posts and just wanted to say thank you for following my blog!  Every comment I read totally makes my day.  We've all been sick this weekend but we did celebrate Nicholas' birthday.

He got a hilarious T-shirt.  Check it out.  He is so gonna wear it tomorrow.

He got a Nintendo DSI from his grandparents and he was so excited!!!

Spoiled brat also got a skateboard he's been begging for from my mom and stepdad and money for a bond from my dad.  Gotta save for college right?  I pretended to grab it and he scooped it up super fast.

Anyway, I feel so lucky to have such wonderful and creative followers, so I thought I'd do a shootout to you!!!

Hope your Monday is good,  Denise

We are all feeling better.  Yay!  I managed to squeeze in a little time (need to remember to turn off that alarm clock on weekends) to scrapbook.  I had Sassy 'Lil Sketches latest sketch on my brain.  I love using oversized die cuts so I couldn't wait to do it.

I {heart] papers Birthday Bash card sketch

Hey all,

Between both my kids being sick w/ a cold and Nicholas having minimum day every day this week, it's been tough getting any scrapbooking done.  But I managed to make this card today for I {heart} paper's birthday bash.  They are celebrating in style and giving away all sorts of awesome prizes.  You'll want to check them out now as today is the last day to submit your cards.  You can find them here.  Yesterday's sketch was a darling card sketch.  Here is my take on it.

I used smooth spray to make the flowers on the black yardstick and I also sprayed the ribbon to make it yellow/gold.  Here is their sketch.

Have a great night!

Sassy Lil' Sketches Card Crazy week 3 sketch

Hey gals,

As you can see I took a break after my last big project.  Today I made a card based on Sassy 'Lil Sketches newest card crazy sketch.  The base and "hi" are a deep dark blue, though it's tough to tell by this photo.

The original sketch looks like this.

I love how quick and easy it is.  Give it a try and you could win a card kit :)
*** Update on Nicholas' race.  He never did race his friend.  He said he wasn't feeling well so they put it off.  And then I guess they moved on to other things because they never did do it.  Very anticlimactic, but I'm glad he's off doing other boy stuff.  He's way to young to be thinking about girls.  Maybe in 20 years or so...

I have been making a Halloween sign to hang in my entryway and it's the best thing I have ever made!  And it was so much fun.  My favorite thing to paper craft is definitely Halloween.  I just love all the all the monsters and creatures.

Here it is!

It was really hard for me to get a good picture because it is so dark and gloomy outside.  But that's kinda fitting don't you think?  I got so close ups before I hung it up though.

I am so so so so excited about my sign.  Can you tell?  I used an old acrylic circular album I've had for ages for the Trick part and a piece of canvas for the treat part.  The paper is my new G45's Halloween in Wonderland and I fussy cut all the cool images.  All the metal, including the rings to hold it up were originally silver but I inked them with Alcohol inks to change them to copper.  I threaded copper flowers through the rings to cover up the holes at the top.  The letter are popped up with an accordion flower I made.  I also popped up many images, though it hard to tell in the pictures. Many of my flowers were white originally but I used ink and glimmer mist to get them the right color for the sign.  Then I added stickles and rhinestones to the flowers, hat, and keyhole.  Gotta have some bling ;)  The canvas I glimmer misted orange (it's very sparky) and then swiped some Vintage Photo ink over it to give it a grungy look.

I'm entering my sign in all kinds of challenges.  I can't remember the last time I won a challenge, so I'm increasing my odds LOL!!!!

Oh, Alice - keyhole
ColourQ - Halloween Colors
Anything goes - Anything goes w/ ribbon
ABC Challenge blog - flowers
Your Scrapbook Stash  - Halloween
Stampin Royalty - Halloween
Cupcake Craft Challenges - Scary creatures
Wee Memories - Celebrate good times
Tellen's Place Designs - Trick or Treat
Lil Red Wagon - Something Old Something New (New was my G45 paper, Old was my acrylic album, I've had it for at least a year)
Scrap Creations - 3 Dimensional
Creative Craft Challenges - Trick or treat
Haunted Design House - Simply Sinister
Glitterbabe's challenge - Halloween and Sparkle

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Sassy 'Lil Sketches October 14th card sketch

Sassy 'lil sketches has a new card sketch out today.  This would be perfect for a border punch.

Whoever wins the race gets to marry Lauren

Apparently Nicholas has a huge race ahead of him on Friday.  As I was putting him to bed, he told me that both he and another boy at school wanted to marry the same girl.  So, to be fair, they are going to race for her on Friday.  Whoever wins, get to marry her.  LOL!!!  How do they come up with this stuff.  Man is he serious about it though.  He's even giving up some of his recess time to practice running faster!  Hilarious!  Wonder what the little girl is saying about it.

Alright, here's my scrapbook page today.  I made it for a DT sketch at Sketches4you.  Every month Fia gives us a sketch for us all to work with.   The paper is from Quick Quotes and the flowers are from Prima.  I just love the colors and flourishes on it.  This paper would have looked really cool on my clock.  Btw, I put a battery in it and it works!  Yay :)

I am also entering my LO for the following challenge.

ABC Challenge - Flowers

Hope everyone is having a marvelous Wednesday.  Lara has caught Nick and I's cold so I kept her home from school today.  Nothing major though.  I found an awesome bookshelf to put in my scrap room closet at Ikea today.  Since we don't have on around here, my dad is going to pick it up for me and bring it up.  He asked me if there was any more room to put it in my scrap room.  Noooooo!!!!  That's why I need it for the closet.  I need more space to put my stuff :)  I could use some more shelves too...

Card crazy 2

Here is this week's card crazy sketch over at Sassy 'Lil Sketches.

You'll want to play along with us.  You can will a card kit :))))

New Blog Candy

Time for me to put up new blog candy :)))  I totally appreciate all my followers.  There's nothing better than getting online and seeing comments from my friends.  So here's what you win can this time around.

A new 8x8 scrapbook album, 55 sheets of 8x8 paper, some pink polka dot ribbon, a "You're invited" stamp, and some tags.  If you'd like a chance to win this, all you need to one of my followers and add the picture w/ a link back to my blog to your sidebar or post about.  Once you've done that add your link to Mr. Linky.  I will delete entries that don't qualify.  I'll post a winner on November 10th :)

Winner choosen on the 8th.  This blog candy is now closed.  Look for another one this week when Sassy 'Lil Sketches has a blog hop.

Love this new Halloween card

I got totally wrapped up in making this card.  Talk about being in the zone.  I received some Rusty Pickle paper from my girlfriend Stacy and it just screamed Halloween at me.  The ribbon is very sparky and beautiful so I cut some of it in half and adhered to the back of the patterned paper (before attaching it to the 5x7 card) so that it created this lovely ruffled edge around the card.  Frankenstein's bride was cut from my Cricut, and I added stickles and distressed stickles to her hair and the oval border.  Finally, the charm is a Tim Holtz fragment tag, which I attached to paper I stamped with "Oct 31".

The challenge I made this card for are:

My Partner in Crafting Crime - Glitter and Shine
Studio L3- Fragment Charms
Simon Says Stamp - Halloween Card
Fussy and Fancy Challenge - Halloween
Cupcake craft challenges - Scary Creatures

Have a great one, Denise

I'm a Guest DT over at Scrap our Stash!

I was so excited to be one of the winner's of Scrap Our Stash's September challenge.  Each month, they pick a winner(s) from all the pages that are submitted throughout the month who are invited to be a guest designer the following month.  I love the idea of using of my stash.  I certainly have lots of it to get too :)))

Their main challenge this month is to do THAT Project! You know the one I mean - the one you've been putting off. Your challenge is: to do a project you've been procrastinating about it may be a particular layout, cleaning up your scrap area; finishing all those started project - anything goes - and you are encouraged to Scrap Your STASH!

They also have a Pagerize This challenge a couple times a month where you take something from a layout you like and create your own spin on it.

Here's what I wrote on their blog today:

When I saw Joni's page on the Pagerize This Challenge, I couldn't wait to get started. I just loved the layout of her page. I had so much fun pulling out ALL kinds of stash to use on my layout. I used a mask and glimmer mist in the top left corner. I used many different inks on my tag and pulled out an old background stamp to decorate it. I've had the vellum quote for over a year so I was happy to pull it out and use it on the tag as well. I wrapped it around the tag and attached it on the back, so no adhesive would show.
I used something else on my layout that I haven't used in AGES. Chalks! The butterfly at the top of the page was originally white, so I chalked it up and used my IRock to adhere a couple of gems to it. I also chalked up the Tattered Angels letters SWEET which were originally cream color.
Finally I added a little sparkle (because I alway have to have some kind of sparkle on my pages) and added some copper Stickles to the Basic Grey paper and prima flowers.

If you get a chance, run by there and check out the challenges here.

I also made my layout for the following challenges.

Studio L3 - wrinkle free distressing (my tag)
Basic Grey Challenges - Basic grey paper and sparkles
Ellephantastic Challenges - Anything Goes

Birthday card challenges

It is a beautiful day here.  Not a cloud in the sky and it must be in the low 90s.  Too pretty to be inside, so I'm blogging this outside, while Lara is playing on her new scooter she got for her birthday.  I made a birthday card this morning and thought I'd share it with you.  If you need to make one, I have a few challenge blogs that  call for a birthday card listed below.

I used Sassy 'Lil Sketches Card crazy sketch #1 for my card.  The paper is from Close to My Heart and the gorgeous ribbon is from Quick Quotes.  The birthday challenges that I am entering this in are: - Anything goes birthday - Birthday card - Anything Goes - Birthday

Hope the sun is smiling on you in your neck of the woods :)

A day at the farm and some GORGEOUS girly hair bows

Lara and I had a blast today visiting a local organic farm w/ her preschool.  When we got out of the car, she immediately held her nose and complained about the smell.  She did this for almost half an hour!  So funny.  It was pretty smelly by the animals!  We went on a tractor ride, picked out some pumpkins, feed animals, and Lara played on a huge haystack and some rides.  She loved every minute.

I also wanted to share some ADORABLE hair clips that I received in the mail today from Christy over at A Christy Production/.  Even though I didn't win her blog candy, she was sweet enough to send me some goodies, which included the bows.  They are sooooo cute!!!  As you can see from the farm pictures, I love putting hair clips in Lara's hair.  Thank you so much Christy!!!  They are by far the cutest clips I've ever seen :)))  Btw, she has another giveaway here.

Lara thought it was great to try them all on and ham it up for the camera.  She's so cool.  I just love her to pieces.

Have a wonderful weekend gals,

Sassy sketch and a questionable(!) card...

Hey gals,

Happy Thursday!  Friday is almost here :)))  It's the 7th so I have a fabulous new Sassy 'Lil Sketch for you.  Also Sassy 'Lil Sketches is now on Facebook!  Check it out here.

I pulled out my Lime Rickey BG paper for this one.  They just remind me of a bowling alley with their neon bright colors like many have going during their night bowling.

This month's prizes are from
Our October Paper Sponsor*

 October Digital Sponsor

I also have a card to ask you about.  I made it over the weekend during a crop.  It was originally for a challenge but I didn't get it posted in time.  I love the paper I used for it, but when I showed it to my husband, he wanted to know what kind of best wishes people would be thinking about when they got it?

OMG, leave it to my husband to notice the what the mushroom sticker looked like!  I really liked this card but now I'm not so sure it'll be going anywhere....  He's has a point...LOL!!!!
