A colorful layout and a couple of sketches

I had time to get two layouts done today.  I am really jazzed how they came out.  This one is a really colorful one!  They aqua paper is a really sparkly paper, but you can't see it much from this photo.  The rhinestones on the top and bottom are brads, and the flowers are all prima :))

I used this month's extra sketch at Sassy 'Lil Sketches.  You'll want to get over there and do a few.  You could win your choice of a cricut cartridge!

I am also entering my layout over at The Sisterhood of Crafters ( where their challenge is flowers.

Finally, I wanted to share this week's sketch Sassy 'Lil Sketches:

Besides scrapping, I've been trying to get caught up on laundry.  Lara got so many gorgeous birthday clothes and they all need to be washed.  Lucky girl (and us)!  She's asked a couple times if she could have a birthday today, LOL!

Have a good one, I'll be back tomorrow with my sketch for the Sketch-a-thon going on over at Sketches4you :)

Lara's birthday

I've been working on a mini album for a friend so I don't have anything new to show you.  But I thought I'd share a couple pictures of Lara's birthday.  She had so much fun opening and playing with her presents.

Have a wonderful evening!

I love making Halloween cards and Sprinkles cupcakes

There is something about making cards about witches, ghosts, and magic that is just so fun.  Halloween is definitely one of my favorite holidays :)  Today I made a cute card using the Simon Says Stamp Sketch.

I made this quick and easy card with my Happy Hauntings Cricut Cart.  The images are sooo cute!  I added some stickles to make it a little sparkly.

I am entering my card for the following challenges

Simon says Stamp (sketch) -

Wee Memories (CAS) -

Allsorts Challenge Blog (Keep it simple) -

Paper Sundaes (Halloween Colors) -

Totally Paper Crafts (Magic) -

We can't wait to celebrate Lara's birthday!  Chris picked up some Sprinkles cupcakes in Beverly Hills.  These are the best cupcakes on the face of the planet!!!  I'm not a big cupcake fan, but these...I drool over!  Their red velvet cupcakes are a masterpiece. They are so rich you can only eat half!  Though I try to eat the whole thing every time, lol.   A definite diet breaker!  Chris bought a dozen and a half.

Beside Red Velvet we bought some Chocolate marshmallow and Vanilla.  Ohh the choices!!!  I am going to be so sick this weekend :)))))

Dream Big

I was on a roll today.  After making my layout, I got to work on a birthday card for Lara.  I wanted to make something fun, pretty, and with lots of glitter.  The image was cut out from my cricut and the paper was Basic Grey's Oliver collection.  I used Sickles to make my mermaid sparkle.

I have a crazy number of challenge blogs I am entering her birthday card in.

Basic Grey Challenges (sketch) -
Dutch Dare Card Challenges (Birthday Card) -
Tuesday Taggers (It takes all sorts) -
A Spoon full of Sugar (Anything goes) -
Lil Red Wagon (Glitter) -
Delightful sketches (Sparkle) -

Have a great night and fun weekend :)

Nikki Sivils is in the house

Sketches4You has a brand new Nikki Sivils sketch over at the Sketch4you Sketch-a-thon!  She will be picking two winners from everyone who uses her sketch.  She was sweet and gave all of us on the DT Team some of her awesome products to use.  I just love her Tree Love collection.

Nikki is also giving away some fabulous prizes on her Facebook page to celebrate a birthday so be sure to check it out here.

Here is her awesome sketch that I used for both the page and card.

You'll definitely want to get on the action!

I also have a awesome new Sassy 'Lil Sketches to share with you.  I'm hoping to get some time tomorrow to work on it.

I've had a busy day today.  Lara's 3rd birthday this weekend, so I went to Toys 'R Us and bought her some fun toys.  I also was able to get my flu shot, hit the post office, and go clothes shopping at Old Navy.  All during the 3 hours Lara was at preschool.  Love being able to get so much done :)  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Playing w/ ribbons and rub-ons

I made a card today for a few challenges.  My friend, Stacy, has a new challenge up at Sketches4you that is to use rub-ons. ( The letters on this card are rub-ons from Fancy Pants.

I also made my card for the following challenges.

Sketch - and Bows-
Anything Goes -
Pink & Girlie -

I also wanted to share a funny story from yesterday.  Lara's teacher said that as the kids were coming in from the playground, Lara said something to a girl next to her.  The girl started pointing to her, and yelling to the teacher, "She talked! She talked!  She can talk!".  We laughed so hard.  Once Lara is comfortable she talks nonstop!  Glad she is slowing getting there at school.

Have a wonderful afternoon,

Using my I-Rock

Hey gals,

I saw this sketch at Sketches4you and fell in love with it!  No surprise though, it's by Cherie at Sassy "lil Sketches and I love all her sketches.   It is a part of the Sketch-a-thon going on now at Sketches4you.

I used my I-rock to put all those yellow (hard to tell, I know) rhinestones on.  So easy!!!  I then used glimmer mist w/ a heavy dose of perfect pearls in it and sprayed the Tim Holtz' clock mask in the upper right hand corner.  I had a pink glimmer mist that I thought would be great, but when I pulled it down it was this yucky goldish color!!!  Is there an expiration date for glimmer mist?  Rather than toss it I just heaped in the perfect pearls until it was a rose.  In person it is sooooo sparkly!  Glad the glimmer mist went bad, lol.  I also distress the pattern paper and then inked it up.  Yup, my hands are a strange array of colors.

Here's the challenges I used to make my layout:

Cherie's sketch -
Distressing -
Masking -

I am happy to say I am feeling better, but my husband came down w/ it yesterday.  It's a viscous circle.  It seems this school year, we will once again be the house of plague ;)

Also, my girlfriend Christina, sweetheart that she is, gave me a blog award.

That totally made my day!  I've know Christina for a while and I always love reading what she has to say.  For a awhile she wasn't feeling so hot, and I really missed her.  Glad your back girl!  Christina also runs the Challenge Blog Scrap it with a Song.  You should definitely go check it out, they are a great group of gals.

So by getting this I get to bore you with 10 things that make me happy right now.  So here's the list.

1.  My children
2.  My husband
3. preschool (gasp! Did she say that?)  yes, I did.
4. The sound of laughter, especially my children's
5. Scrapbooking (duh, I know)
6. Anything that resembles or has chocolate in it
7. My Mac (never will I go PC again!)
8. My Kindle
9. My IPad (yes, I am a techno geek)
10.  All of you gals

I'm suppose to forward this to 10 friends, but there's no way I can pick 10.  I'd leave someone out and it would hurt my feelings.  So, if you are one of those unfortunate lucky gals that swaps blog chatter w/ me, scoop this baby up and display it proudly!  Let me know if you do, so I can leave you more bloggy love :)

Have a fun and fabulous weekend gals!

Footsteps by the Sea

Today was Lara's first day of school.  She missed the actual first day because she was sick, but happily she's starting to feel a little better.  She absolutely loved it!  She went right in and started playing.  I gave her a hug and she was fine.  The teachers said she did really well but didn't talk or smile.  That's my shy girl.  She said her favorite part was snack and the park (her word for playground).  She was very happy when I picked her up and wants to go tomorrow.  Doesn't get any better than that.  Chris says it's funny that we have one child who won't quit talking in class and one child who won't talk at all.  LOL.

When I got home from dropping her off, I broke into song, "I'm free to do whatever I want, any ole time".  Is that wrong?

I went straight into my scrap room and made this page for Sketch Inspiration.  I had the sketch tagged to do today because I liked it so much.

It's Friday!  Who Hoo!  My sister is having a twins' birthday party, welcome back from Afghanistan party for her hubby, and a goodbye party all rolled into one.  They are moving to Tennessee next month.  Boo Hoo!!!  I hope we can make it.  Chris was home yesterday with a fever.  Crossing my fingers!  Have a fabulous weekend girls!

The Sketch-a-thon is on at Sketches 4 You

The Sketch-a-thon is on over at Sketchesforyou/!  There is a new card, tag, or layout sketch every day.  And tons of prizes!!  Not only from Sketches4you, but from the DT members as well!  So if you need a little inspiration, or just want to try to win some prizes head over there :)

Today's layout I made for Sketches4you.  I had to buy this picture of Lara.  It totally cracks me up.  She was so done with getting her picture taken.

I had a blast making this butterfly. I started with a white chipboard butterfly. Then I sprayed it with glimmer mist. While it was wet I added fine glitter. After it dried I added liquid glass and added some more glitter while it was drying. Once it dried the adhesive rhinestones stuck to the liquid glass really well. Finally I added Stickles around the edges. You can never have enough glitter, right?

Have a great night,

What a crazy morning!

I took Lara to the doctor's office this morning and she has a sinus infection.  While I was talking to the doctor Nicholas' school called.  He had fallen on his chin.  So I drove to his school, picked him up and drove back to the doctor's office.  They asked if I wanted a job since I'm there so often.  Turns out he need some stitches :((((  Poor little guy was hysterical and I had to hold him down.  Lara was next to me and started crying to.  Poor babies!  Happily we are home now and the kids are taking it easy.

There is the Sassy 'Lil Sketches sketch up.  Here it is:

Here is my take on the sketch.

A Lifebook page for Lara

I have fallen behind on Lara's lifebook (bad mommy) but now that school is getting started I'm planning on getting caught up for the lifebook group I lead for making a one lifebook page a month.  Here is a page I finished yesterday.  The bit of orange blur near the stamp on the page is text I hid, as it is her information to share, not mine.  I got lots of inspiration for this through challenge blogs.  I used a sketch from Sassy 'Lil Sketches (love it!), the colors from The Play Date Cafe, pearls and lace from Simon Says Stamp, layers from Simon Says Stamp and Show/, and border punch from Scrap Our Stash.  The lace was originally white but I sprayed it with glimmer mist to match my color scheme.

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday morning.  We're just hanging around.  Lara's asthma is awful so I'm just trying to keep her calm and quiet.  Not an easy thing to do with a 2 yr old!  Anyone doing anything fun this weekend?

Toy Story 3

Yesterday's layout drove me up the wall.  I think I gave up on it 3 or 4 times.  Definitely not a creative day for me.  But after walking away from it for a couple hours, I finished it and I like it now.  It's a picture that was taken when we went to see Toy Story 3 at the El Capitan in L.A.  It was such a cool theater.  And they had a small carnival after that was included in the ticket price.  We raced out the door and were the first people to get in.

The sketch is from Sketches in Thyme.  I am also entering this at The Pink Elephant Challenge which was to use your favorite colors and embellishments.

It's Friday!  Hope everyone has a great three day weekend!  We will be taking it easy.  Both kids are on breathing treatments, so we'll be hanging at home.

Kid Power

Hey gals,

Today was Nicholas' first day of school.  He was dreading it but when he came out he said it was awesome.  I was so happy for him!  We went and got ice cream to celebrate his first day of school.  I can't believe Summer's over.  Waaaa.  Lara doesn't start preschool for another week, which works out really well since she is sick.

I finally made a layout.  Sheesh.  It's been a while.  I made if for my ink challenge over at sketches4you.  The challenge is to use ink in your title.  I also used an awesome sketch from Sketches In Thyme.  My girlfriend Stacy gave me the gorgeous Basic Grey Lime Rickey paper and stickers.  I love it!!!  The colors are so bright and gorgeous.

Well I am hoping to get one page or two cards done every day this month.  This LOAD (layout a day) challenge is going on over at my yahoo group  We'll see how that goes...
