Back from Vegas

Hey everyone,

Just a quick note from me.  We just got home from our last trip of the summer.  We squeezed in one more trip to Las Vegas.  It was a blast!  We stayed in a suite at Paris and hung out with some friends.  The room we had was HUGE!  It normally runs $850 a night, but we got it for $120.  After getting home, Nicholas and I found out who his teacher will be tomorrow and got all his supplies.  Nothing like last minute shopping :)

Onto what you want to know.  The random number generator has spoken.  My Sassy 'Lil Blog hop prize for my followers is KIM!

Kim said...

Fun LO! The pictures are so cute! And I am a new follower.

Congrats Kim!  Send me an email Kim with your address and I'll get your prize out to you :)

Have good night,

My 50th card I've made this year (hit my goal!)

Hey gals,

I made my 50th card today.  Whoo Hooo!  That's a lot of cards!!  Here's why I wanted to make so many.  (Nicole, if you're reading this stop!!!)   My sister's husband has an excellent chance of being moved out of state.  If this happens, I'm going to be soooo sad.  We are very close.  So I thought I would give her a gift of cards before she left so she could send notes to all her family and friends.  And since I know she loves sending cards to people, she will definitely get some use out of them.

I also made this card for Brenda's challenge over at http://sketchesforyou.ning.com/group/brendaschallenges.  Her challenge was to make something with fall colors and include at least one flower.  Isn't that a fun challenge?  I think it is open until Sunday, so hop over there if you want a chance to win an RAK.

We are feeling much better and it felt to good to get my hands on some scrapping stuff!  I also make a layout, but I'm afraid you'll have to wait until the 7th to see it.  It's for a Sassy sketch :)  Have a great Thursday.  Friday's almost here :))

Playing with my I-Rock

******If you are here for the Sassy 'Lil Sketches Blog hop, please scroll down ******

I decided to try I-rock out on a Prima Chipboard sticker I had.  I was a little intimidated at first, but you really can feel it when the gem is setting.  It gives a little bit.  The key to making it look good is to not press to hard.  If you do, the glue underneath the gem will spread around the gem.  Not that it looks terrible, just like a glue dot, but it looks a whole lot better if you don't see adhesive.  What I really love about it is man those jewels stick!  No more worrying about gems falling off if you hand it too much.

I'm also loving the size of it.  Now I'll be able to take all the colors of rhinestones to all the crops I go to, without taking tons of stuff.  That is pretty awesome.  Nick and I are feeling a little better from the stomach bug we caught, thanks for all the sweet comments.  I'm so glad his school doesn't start till next week :)

Have a great day,

Sassy Lil' Sketches new sketch

Hey gals,

Just wanted to show you Sassy 'Lil Sketches New Sketch.  I love this one!  Unfortunately Nick and I have the stomach flu so it's going to have to wait :(

Look at a mommy in the making here.  Lara is such a sweetheart.  She hates when her brother doesn't feel good.

Don't forget Sassy 'Lil Sketches is having a fabulous blog hop tomorrow w/ lots of prizes.  I might even have one of my own for my followers...

Friday, August 20, 2010

It's Friday!  Who Hoo!!  This weekend we have nothing planned.  Gasp!  I'm pretty excited about it.  We can be spur of the moment.  Though having plans last weekend didn't stop us from heading up to Vegas for a few days.  LOL.  So worth the drive though.  It was so fun.  Today I got to use up some stash.  I used half sheets of pearls and a scrap of lace I had.  This picture of Lara is arguably the best one ever of her.  Her personality just shines though.

This sketch is for the following challenges

Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge (http://fussyandfancychallenge.blogspot.com/) - sketch
Saturday Challenge (http://thesecretcraftersaturdaychallenge.blogspot.com/) -What are little girls made of
Wild Orchid Challenge (http://wildorchidchallenge.blogspot.com/) - One for the girls
It did it Creations (http://robynsfetishchallengeblog.blogspot.com/) - Anything but a card
Mark's Finest Papers (http://marksfinestpapers.blogspot.com/) - Think Flowers

My kids have been cracking me up this week.  First I caught Lara mooning her brother on the way to the  bathroom!  Yikes!  I couldn't help but laugh.  I did then tell her we don't do that.  Thank you for teaching her that Nicholas...  Nicholas came down from playing his WII and wanted to know why I wasn't doing the laundry?!  Umm, I am son.  So they he asks, "Why are there clothes all over the laundry room?"  Sheesh, laundry police!  I told him I was sorting them for washing and then he nodding and said, "Okay".  Gosh I hope he doesn't catch me slacking!  LOL!!!  Have a great weekend, girls :)

Want to win an irock?

Got bling?  I'm giving away an irock, gem setters, and some glam rocks to one of my followers.  Not a follower?  Hope you become one :)   My girlfriends' comments totally make my day.  Just leave a comment that you are a follower (join goggle to do that) and that you'd like to win one.  I will ship internationally.  I will delete entries of people who are not following.  It seems only fair.  If you post it on your sidebar, you get an extra entry :)  Just link up your blog w/ Mr. Linky.  I'll pick a winner on September 19th.  I have one and I LOVE it!!!  It so easy to use!

A friend is..

Hey gals,

It's been a lazy day around here.  I got a quick card done while Lara went to her preschool.  It is for Sassy 'Lil Sketches card challenge.  The stamps had been sitting in my room collecting dust, so I was happy to finally use them.  I colored the letters in with ink.

I'm off to try my new i-rock I got from my girlfriend Stacy :)  Thanks girl!! I wanted one BAD!

Vintage Tag and Beach Pics

Just a quick tag for you today.  It is for a Vintage Tag challenge over at Sketches4You.  You can play until the 19th, so jump in if you have time.  There are prima flowers you can win.  The link is http://sketchesforyou.ning.com/group/tags/forum/topics/a-vintage-tag-challenge-prima.  I don't do too much Vintage stuff so this wasn't that easy for me.

We spent the day at the beach today.  Thought I'd share some pics of the kids.  My fearless daughter hated the water!  Not so fearless.  I don't blame her it was COLD!  We went to a small bay where the waves were pretty much nonexistent, so Nick had a good time splashing around.  I stayed with Lara and took pictures :)

Shiny Happy Kids

My hands are once again blue.  One of these days I'll figure out how to use glimmer mist just on my project, rather than my hands too.  They look like the blue man on 5 People You Meet in Heaven.   I think I'm a little heavy handed with it.  It came out okay though.

I made this for Brenda Sketch Challenge at Sketches4you.  She drew this sketch!  How cool is that.  My layout is not tilted that much but I had a hard time getting it photographed.  (Okay, I'm lazy!)  These pictures are of Lara and Nicholas after they decided to cover themselves in Menthalatum.  You'll probably remember the pics from a few months ago.  I still haven't replaced that jar.  We've also lost our Vaseline between now and then as well.  Lara has a love of soap and lotion.  If she can open it, she'll cover herself with it.  Menthalatum, Vaseline, diaper cream, bubbles, you name it, she's hydrated her skin with it.

The Summer's almost over for the kids.  Just a couple more weeks left.  We are trying to get some more fun in while we can.  Today we went miniature golfing, tomorrow's the beach, and Friday is a hand's on kid museum.  Saturday is a big block party that the HOA puts on, complete with jolly jumps.  If Summer's almost over, we'll go out with a bang :)

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

After taking a few days off, I was really to jump in and get started today.  Normally I only do a few challenges but there were so many that applied to my Layout.  When Nicholas saw this page, he asked,"Why did you put wings on Me?!"  When I told him he was an angel that day, he said, "I don't look like an angel."  Well, maybe not today you don't, LOL.

This is for the following challenges:
Sketches in Thyme - Sketch
Studio L3 - Distress Crackle (the wings on Nicholas)
The (paper) trail makers challenge blog -  circles (fiber, layout)
Wee Memories - butterflies (transparency at top, paper)
Simon Says Stamp and Show (http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com/) - Wings
http://sirstampalotchallenge.blogspot.com/ - glitter/bling (stickles, butterfly)

Wow, that's the most challenges I've ever done in one layout!  Hope everyone is having a great week :)

I had so much fun with Let's Scrap sketch this week.  This sketch is also entered in Sir Stamp a lot challenge of glitter/bling. You can go to their challenge blog here. I used my cricut for the turtles.  This was when Chris and I went to Hawaii in December.  We went snorkeling and saw a ton of turtles.  It was really amazing.

Sassy Lil' Sketches August 7th Sketch (my first official one!)

Hey gals,

August 7th is here.  That means the 1st Sassy Lil' Sketches Sketch (say that 5 times fast!) is out.  And it is my first layout for them!!  So excited.  Here's the sketch:

And here is my take on it:

This picture is of my brother, Eric, at my wedding 11 years ago.  He was suppose to be the ring bearer, but he was so shy he just couldn't do it.  The sunglasses are Chris'.  He look so cute :)

Aso, We have two fabulous sponsors again this month for 2 random winners!!!
A digi sponsor and a paper sponsor!

Our paper sponsor is:
Monica will be sending our lucky winner one of her gorgeous embellishment kits!*

Our digi sponsor is:
The cutting cafe blinkie
Regina will be lavishing the digi winner with three files from her site! You'll notice throughout the month that some of the DT members used images from her site to create their layouts/cards

It's friday and I have the worst Migraine

Normally I love Fridays.  Not so much today.  I woke up with the worst migraine :(  So here's a very quick card I wanted to share with.

I made this for Stacy's card challenge.  You needed to use something repurposed with her sketch.  I turned the sketch and added the gorgeous flower and ribbon you see.  I got these from my blogging friend Judy.  Isn't the flower awesome?  I love how she made it.  She has a tutorial on her blog at http://judyscardmakingandpapercrafts.blogspot.com/.

If you'd like to give this challenge a try, you can find it at http://sketchesforyou.ning.com/group/stacyhwscardsmorecards/forum/topics/stacy-hws-august-1st-card

Stacy always give awesome prizes to one lucky random winner, so trust me, you'll want to give it go :)

Have a great weekend,

Studio L3 Tim Holtz tag challenge and bowling

Hey everyone,

Studio L3 challenge this week is Inking Grudge.  I decided to ink up two hearts and connect them with an eyelet.  To add a little shine, I put distress crackle paint over them.

Today we meet some friends and bowling.  It was Lara's first time and I had visions of balls flying.   The kids had a blast!  Lara was so excited!!

Nick just cracked me up though w/ his funny faces after he rolled the ball.

We ended up playing 2 games and the kids were so tired by the end of it.  The lane next to us was empty, so Lara thought that would be a good place to rest.

Nick cracked me up on the way over there.  I had forgotten my directions, so I made a quick call to Chris to figure out where to go.  As it was dialing, Nick says indignantly, "Mom that's a safety violation!"  Yikes, who needs a cop around when I have him?  LOL.

Wee Memories - chipboard

Have a great Monday :)
