It's Saturday morning and I have coffee in hand

There is nothing better than your first cup of coffee in the morning.  I know some of you don't drink it (Marlene), but those who are addicted like me know what I am talking about.  Mmmm.

So I got badgered to death at Sketches4you to post my first inking challenge before August 1.  There are some feisty women over there!  So I caved to peer pressure and posted it.  It's the first one and soooooooo easy that you'll have to come play, if you haven't already.  You just need to use ink in two different ways.  And, of course, it has to be a new project.  No old pages recycled.  I've got an Tim Holtz alterations die and a bling prize, so there will be two winners.  You can combine it with whatever challenges you like.  Add it to 10, doesn't matter to me.  If you're interested just click on the Let's Ink box on the left side of my blog.

I decided to make a door hanger for Nicholas for my challenge.  I won some awesome BG Oliver paper from Leeanne's blog who by the way has fantastic giveaways ( and Nicolas was in love with the monkey images.  I spread all the paper out and he picked his favorite.  He also wanted me to put, "No girls allowed".  I said what about me?  He said, you can kiss me downstairs mommy.  (at bedtime).  Later that night he also said, "You can come in my room to pick up my clothes and put away laundry."   Well, thank you very much son!!!!  Time to do some chores adjustments around here, I think!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday, filled with fun :)

It's a small world and prizes for my new ink challenge group

It's friday!!!  Time to party!  Chris is working late tonight so Nick and I are going to have one of our candy parties after Lara goes to bed.  This entails eating candy till we are sick, watching a movie in bed, and staying up late.  He always begs to sleep w/ me when daddy's gone, so I'm sure he'll begin his campaign soon.  Chris always carries him to bed when he get home.

Okay, on to the scrapbooking.  I have been dying to use some of my new G45 Alice in Wonderland, so I snapped Alice and Her rabbit on the It's a small world ride at disneyland.  I know, it's totally a reach :)  I used the inchies from my TH paper pad for the circles.  The sketch is the latest one at Sassy 'Lil Sketches.  I'm so looking forward to starting my term as a DT over there!

Here's their new sketch :

Now for the good stuff.  My new Let's Ink challenge is starting on August one.  The first challenge is going to be an easy one.  I decided to have 2 prizes since it is my first one :)  The first one is a TH Alterations die I won, but I don't have the machine for it, so off it goes.

The 2nd one is bling and a Jolie sticker.

To get in on the action go to

Have a fabulous and fun weekend, Denise

Hey gals,

Today I've got a bookmark for you.  Studio L3 is has a Tim Holtz challenge up.  This one was definitely new to me!  It was to make a tinted vision fragment.  I thought it was just the right size for a bookmark.

Close up of the fragment

I thought it came out really cool.  I think I may be in danger of being a Tim Holtz fanatic.  LOL.

Also, I have some fantastic news!  I am now a Design Team Member for Sketch 4 All!!!  They are a very sweet group of gals who are soooo laid back.  The owner, FIA even said I could make up a challenge group doing whatever I wanted :))  So my new challenge group is all about ink!!!  (Of course, it is, lol)  I'm going to post a new challenge there every 1st and 15th day, starting in Auguest.  There will be prizes :)  I'm also going to allow you to combine my challenge w/ any others you choose.  I hope I see all my friends there...hint hint.  Don't worry they don't sell anything, it's all about having fun!

Have a good one!

Jump layout and some pics

Man, it felt so good to get back into my scrapbooking room today!  Love it!  I decided to go back and do a Sassy Lil' Sketches sketch I didn't have time for last week.  They take entries until the end of the month :)  Here is their July 21th sketch:

I used some pictures I had of Nicholas' swim lessons.  I am also going to enter this in Stacy's stash challenge on Sketches4all ( to use brads, as well as whose challenge is also to use brads.  Finally, I am submitting it to Paper Pretties where the challenge is to use glitter in your layout or card.  (

He was worn out when the lessons where over!

I also wanted to share a couple pictures of Sandals.  There were slim pickings!  We took all of 10 pictures, lol.  I have a great picture of view from our room at the Ritz in Ft Lauderdale, where we stopped for the night on our way there.  Someday I'll figure out how to get it off my phone.  Or, maybe just give it to Chris to do for me.
One of like 7 pools.
Chris on the pier
From the pier
Dinner on the pier (I had Lobster and Alaskan King Crab Legs!)

And that's about it.  We had way too much fun to take many pictures :))  I told Chris that I missed hanging a sign on our door and getting omelets delivered the next a.m.  I suggested he could do it, and all I got was an eye roll.  Oh well, worth a shot ;)

The Pink Ninja Girls blog hop

The Pink Ninja girls are having another of their fabulous blog hops.  You can win one of their awesome new Kits "Please play this song on the Radio".  I love this kit.  It is soooo perfect for scrapbooking all your boy pages!!!!  And look at those embellishments!  Yummy :)  Check it out at

I'm baaaaack

Hey gals,

I'm back from celebrating Chris' and I's 11th anniversary.  We spent it at a Sandals in the Bahamas!!!  It was such a romantic, fun vacation.   The pools and beach were gorgeous, the service was incredible, and we enjoyed every single minute of it!  Chris had booked us a suite, so we had our own personal butler to make sure we had everything we needed.  It was really strange at first, but it was so cool to be able to call her and ask for things to be dropped off to us wherever we were, or have her reserved chaise lounges at the beach.  On our anniversary night we came back from dinner (they escorted us to dinner each night) and our room was covered in candlelight and rose petals.  She even ran me a bubble bath with rose petals and candles!  I've never been so spoiled in my life.  Needless to say, I highly recommend Sandals!

Now that we are home again, it's time to play catch up.  I'm off to do laundry, shopping etc.  Chat with ya later ;)

New challenge blog and blog candy

My last Practical Scrapper challenge

What a blast I've had these last 4 months with Practical Scrappers.  They were my very first Design Team, and learn so much from all the wonderful gals there.  While I am hanging on to the friendships I made, this will be my last design for them.

The challenge this week is to use at least 7 different things on your projects.  I used a border punch, chipboard, ink, chalk, bling, card stock, pattern paper, ribbon, and a clear plastic butterfly for a total of 9 different things.  The card sketch is from Sassy 'Lil Sketches.  Finally, Stacy had a monotone color challenge over at Sketches4all, so I included that challenge as well.

Hope you have a great time with this challenge over at Practical Scrappers and I see some of your projects over.  Have a wonderful Monday,

Thank you and blog award

I made this card in like 10 minutes!  This card sketch challenge is another one of Stacy's.  She offered a RAK for the 1st person who posted their card.  I was throwing stuff everywhere to get this done, photographed and uploaded!   I told her not to send me anything, but she insisted that I won it fair and square and she was going to.  Last time I won an RAK from her she asked for my address I sent her 666 Ain't gonna tell St, None ya, CA 00000.  But she found my real one, and sent me it anyway.  She's such a sweetheart.  So go give this one a try and maybe you'll be next.

I also got a lovely surprise yesterday.  My girlfriend Kelly gave me an adorable blog award.  She and I have been blogging friends for quite awhile now.  She is a fabulous scrapper and I love chatting with her!  Her addy is  You'll want to "meet".

I am supposed to send this on to only 3 people... Yikes, that's too hard to do!!!  I thought I'd share it with some blogging friends I haven't sent a award too.  Gals who I've been following and chatting with back and forth on our blogs for awhile now.  If you get a chance, swing by and say hello.  I'm sure you'll recognize them, they are all very talented and on several DTs.

Just because

I made this card for one of Stacy's challenges over at Sketches4All.  It was the first time I had ever used a mask.  I really liked how quick and easy it was to use.  If you haven't gone over there, you should.  Her prizes are AWESOME!

Summer Tag

Quick post, I'm off to take Nicholas to the Doctor's for some antibiotics.  Poor little guy is miserable.  I think he may have tonsillitis. I'm crossing my fingers that Lara doesn't come down with it! I made this tag for a challenge over at Sketches4all.  I think I may use my tag for a summer mini album.

Have a good one,

Leeanne's blog candy

Hey gals,

Leeanne is giving away three Cosmo Cricket Material Girl Crafting kits!!!  This is her "little" giveaway.  Seems like a big giveaway to me.  She's going to have a big giveaway later on in the week!!!  Go pop right over and check out her fabulous blog :)

The things we do for our kids

Practical Scrappers has a fabulous challenge this week!  You need to use something in your stash that is at least a year old.  I think this is my favorite challenge.  Such a great way to pull out old stuff and use it.  I had some half used K&Company sticker sheets that I really needed to use, as well as some old K&Company paper and glitter chipboard.  K&Company was my favorite for a long long time, and I bought a ton of their paper pads.

We had a great time yesterday playing in a pool!  There was a slide that was 9 feet high!!  Lara took one look at it and begged to go down!  She started climbing up on her own.  Okaaaay.  Being 9 ft up on a ladder, not my idea of fun.  (Plus, the cars along the street could see me in my suit!)  So I took my little daredevil and we did the slide.  She did great and my dad caught her.  She did NOT want to do it again.  Nicholas went up, looked down and said no way.  He did go down with me though.  The awful scary things we do to make our children happy, I swear.

Well, it's a quiet day here today.  Nicholas woke up with 101 fever and body aches, so we're homebound.  There went his dentist appt today.  I think he planned it...hmm.  Have a great day!

Time for a card

Hey gals,

I love Saturdays with no where you have to be right away.  The kids watching cartoons, I get to sip my coffee and check my email.  It's a good life :)

I thought I'd share a card with you.  I made it out of my PIT July kit.  Nothing crazy, but I think it turned out pretty.  I decided to take a break from layouts for a couple of days.  I needed a break, so I inhaled a couple of books on my Kindle :)

So I have a question for you.  Do you ever need a break from Scrapbooking?  What do you do to get your creative juices flowing?

Great giveaway

Taadaaaaaa is giving away her first blog candy.  You can check it out at  Look at all the fabulousness of it!!!  She also creates gorgeous pages with lots to inspire you :)

Simon says Stamp

Simon says Stamp is having a huge giveaway!  You can check it out at

What a face!

Nicholas' soccer camp had a wacky Wednesday today, and Nicholas begged to have his face painted and his hair colored.  He decided he wanted to do it in the English colors since the coaches are all English kids. He also wanted to wear a soccer jersey of Chris'.  He was so proud of himself when we were done!  I loved watching him watch himself in the mirror.

I also wanted to post my tag for the new Tim Holtz challenge on Studio L3's blog.  This weeks challenge was distress powder.  I had to run out and buy the distress powder.  I only had regular embossing powder.  The stamp I used is also from Tim Holtz.  Of course, I had to add some girliness to it as well!  On the flowers I added some Stickles around the edges.

Finally, Sassy 'Lil Sketches has this week's new sketch out.  This week's sketch is for a card.  They have some amazing examples on their blog, so take a peek if you want to join into the challenge.

It's been a crazy day today.  While Nick was playing soccer, Lara and I hit the mall and then a small concert at the local library.  I'm tired!!!  Have a wonderful night :)

Today has been crazy!  Tons of kid activities and errands.  Still a few more to do so I'm making this a quick post.  This is one of the pictures of Lara I had taken a few weeks ago at JcPenny's.  There were so many great ones of her, you'll be seeing a lot of them!  I couldn't help it, I needed almost all of them :)  The sketch is from Sketches4all.  I am also submitting it to the Creative Cottage Challenge blog which was no cards allowed.

I admit I went a little crazy with the purple, but it was so much fun :)

My first digi

Practical scrappers has a new challenge up.  This week it's embossing.  We were lucky enough to get a digital image from our Sponsor Digi Doodles.  This was my first digital image I ever colored.  I just had to wait to post it until today.

With the exception of the skin color I thought it came out pretty cool.  I used Zig markers to color it.

Well, Nick has an Ayso Soccer camp all week, so I'm outta here :)  Hope your morning is going smoothly.

Sketch Friday at Practical Scrappers

It's time for a new sketch at Practical Scrappers.  Here's my take on this week's sketch.

The kids' self proclaimed cool kids club was very exclusive.  When I tried to see what they were doing at one point they started screaming and ran away.  Apparently I am not cool... or a kid for that matter.  I sulked my way back to the adults, lol.  Also, there is a poll up at PS, so if you have a moment, head over there to vote and check out the sketch.  It only takes a second, I promise.  Well, it's already Friday again! Gotta love it :)

Have a good one,

Got my Pages in Time July Kit today

I've been stalking the mailman so I'm sure he's glad he delivered it today!  Lots of Prima goodies in it!  Man, I love Prima.  Since it's Thursday and there is a new sketch up over at Pages in Time, it was perfect timing.  Here's this week's sketch:

Isn't it so Gorgeous?  I also thought I'd try to incorporate some of the July challenges that are going on at Pages in Time too.  One is to incorporate pearls, one is to use two different punches, and the other is to do a shabby chic layout.  I'm not sure exactly what that means, but the directions are to really distress everything.  Doing this layout, made me realize that this is not my style.  I love how it turned out, but I think I like my layouts a little more clean.  Plus, working with an exacto makes me nervous.  I am horrible klutz.  Everything I used in my layout is from my kit, with the exception of the big red flower, which was a leftover from last month's kit.

Hope every is enjoying their summer ;)

Color Throwdown blog hop and the amazing Carla

Hey girls,

Two posts in one day?!  The last layout I did before I left, so here's a card I did today.  I've caught another (or maybe the same one) nasty cold being outside in the cold at Disneyland, so I decided to try a digi image today.  Nothing like coloring in front of the TV.  Reminds me of coloring as a child with my sister :)  The Color Throwdown is having a blog hop to celebrate 100 challenges and to participate you need to make a paper craft of the colors they choose. (  I decided to color this digi in watercolor pencils and then go over it with a paintbrush to soften up the pencil strokes.

I also wanted to let you know who our Pages in Time Guest Design Team Member is.  Did you know we had a guest DT member every month? This month's DT member is Carla.

Carla makes gorgeous flowers that are so much prettier than anything you can buy.  She also makes pages to drool over.  This is one of her's that I really love.

You can chat with her and see more of her layouts on her profile at pages in time ( and her blog (  She is really sweet and so talented, so if you have a chance, stop by and say hello.

Alright, that's enough outta me already.  Have a good night everyone :)

Hey gals,

We are back from our 4th of July vacation at Disneyland.  We stayed at the Grand Californian and had a blast!  It was Lara's first visit to Disneyland and seeing fireworks.  She loved seeing Mickey and Minnie Mouse.  She gave them both kisses!  She wasn't a big fan of the fireworks and my face is killing me where she reared back and slammed her head into mine.  But, she did really like the World of Color show at California Adventure and almost all the rides.  Her favorite was It's a small World.  It was really fun seeing both kids have such a great time :)  I actually forgot my camera so I can't show you any until I get my throw aways developed :(

Today's layout looks nothing like today.  It is ugly outside!!!  So overcast and cold.  Brrrrr.  This layout was for a Stuck?! sketch challenge.

I just love the expressions on Nick and Lara's faces in this photo.  So cute!  And there is little Teagan trying to join them.

Also, My Partner in Crafting Crime is going to give away a surprise gift when they hit 100 followers to one of their lucky followers.  They are already at 80 so hurry over to have a shot at it.

Finally, It's Wednesday so Sassy 'Lil Sketches has another wonderful sketch for you.  One lucky winner this month will win something from Snobby Walrus!!!!

Have a wonderful hump day everyone :)

Time for a new challenge at Practical Scrappers

This week is a fun new one!  To enter you need to use animation, cartoons or cartoon characters.  How fun it that?  This is the perfect time to make some cards for your kids or a fun layout using your kids favorite cartoon characters.  Have some Disneyland pictures you need to scrap?  Here's your chance to win something with it.

For this challenge I decided to make a funny Mickey Mouse card for Grace.  Grace is a sweet girl who just recently lost her twin sister to cancer.  Jennifer McGuire is asking people to send out fun and upbeat cards to lift her spirits up.  She could really use a few smiles right now!  Just breaks my heart.

If you'd like to send a card to Ellie (and I hope you will) check out how to at

Hope everyone had a awesome 4th of July!  We are having a blast (still).  I'll be back tomorrow to tell you all about it :)
